Traditional accounts of the Battle of the Bulge have not told the whole story. This book chronicles the sacrifice of one valiant regiment (the 110th Infantry of the 28th Infantry Division) and assorted support troops - including clerks, cooks, Quartermaster troops, and bandsmen; as well as armored and artillery units - in their attempt to hold off the drive of four German divisions toward Bastogne, Belgium. It is the bloody saga of American GIs willing to trade their lives for time so that reinforcements could occupy the vital crossroads of Bastogne to thwart the surprise German 1994 winter offensive that threatened to turn the tide of war in Europe.
